Vertigo Relief, Dizziness Relief, Dizzy, Meniere’s Disease Relief, Vertigo, Dizziness, Meniere’s , Meniere’s Disease It happens suddenly, that spinning sensation—whether you are the one in perpetual motion or everything around you is. Vertigo attacks happen suddenly and abruptly interrupt your day and whatever it is you were doing. Why does vertigo happen?

The problem stems from issues from the vestibular system in the inner ear, vision, or the proprioceptive system (this system signals the brain from sensors in the trunk of the body, the feet, and the spine). While these systems can cause the sensations felt by a vertigo attack, the root cause could have to do with a past injury to the head or neck. This link is often overlooked when caring for vertigo.

Research Results Regarding Vertigo

One study evaluated 60 patients, all who suffered from vertigo. Fifty-six recalled an injury to the head or neck at some point in the past. These incidents included car accidents, falls (including falling down stairs), and sports-related injuries. When examined carefully, all of the 60 patients were found to have a misalignment, specifically in the upper cervical region of the neck. After precise adjustments had been made by an upper cervical chiropractor, all patients reported marked improvement. Actually, 48 were completely free from vertigo episodes after treatment. The other 12 all noted that the severity and frequency of attacks were significantly lessened.

What if You Suffer from Vertigo?

If you experience vertigo attacks and have not found help that provides the relief you need, why not consult an upper cervical chiropractor? We can evaluate for a misalignment of the atlas in the uppermost part of the spine to see if that could be what is causing your episodes. Assessing patients for this specific misalignment has helped many, not just with vertigo but with a host of other conditions as well.
