Parkinson’s Disease, Parkinson’s, Sports Injury, neurological disorder, Head InjuryThe Journal of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research reveals some interesting information about Parkinson’s disease and how upper cervical chiropractic can be helpful to those who suffer from it. Dr. J. Chung and Dr. J. Brown relay the case of a 67-year-old female. Her outcome after care is amazing. Let’s look at it a little closer.

This patient complained of weakness, rigidity, and tremors due to Parkinson’s disease. She also suffered from scoliosis. About 5 years previously, she began falling on a regular basis and having daily balance issues. She was then diagnosed with Parkinson’s. She was unable to complete her day-to-day routine and could not work.

She was cared for by an upper cervical chiropractor who corrected the misaligned bones in her upper neck. This procedure is called the Atlas Subluxation Complex Syndrome. Her results over a 6 month period are as follows:

  • 70% improvement in mobility
  • 60% improvement in weakness
  • 30% improvement in rigidity
  • 60% improvement in tremors

She stated that she was now able to perform her daily activities and she is falling much less. She was even able to return to work.

What Parkinson’s Research Reveals

One study reveals brainstem atrophy to be the first noticeable stage of neurodegeneration in Parkinson’s patients and is responsible for the variety of symptoms seen with this condition. An upright MRI further reveals that a misalignment in the neck can hinder the proper function of the brain due to changes in blood and cerebrospinal fluid flow to the brain.

Finding Relief for Parkinson’s Disease

Here Vital Life Wellness Center, we use a special method that helps the bones of the neck to realign more naturally. I have been specifically trained to find and then correct these misalignments of the upper cervical spine that may be responsible for reduced blood flow. Once this is accomplished, many patients report similar results to those of the case study mentioned above.
