Vertigo is known for the sensation of moving when there is no movement. It is particularly known for a feeling of spinning. You may remember playing Pin the Tail on the Donkey as a child. You are blindfolded and spun around. While aimed at the target, you were usually unable to walk straight to it due to the vertigo that you were experiencing. This was great fun as a child, but as an adult, it is not something you want to happen to you out of the blue.
As one ages, the chances of having an episode of vertigo increases. After age 40, as many as 40% of people have vertigo. In addition, the risk of one falling increases with age. As many as 1/3 of elderly people fall every year in America.
No one really understands exactly why vertigo happens. But a common factor with most of those who have vertigo is that they have had some type of trauma to their head or neck in the past, including whiplash, sporting accidents, or simply a bump to the head.

Vertigo Alleviated by Proper Spinal Care
Numerous studies have proven that by correcting a misalignment in the bones of the upper neck can lead to improvement in vertigo symptoms. A study involving 139 patients that had Meniere’s disease, with vertigo as its main symptoms, showed an interesting outcome when they received upper cervical chiropractic care. They originally rated their symptoms collectively at an 8.5 out of 10. After just two years of care, they saw their symptoms go to a 1.4 out of 10. This further proves the connection between a problem in the neck and vertigo.
Here at Vital Life Wellness Center in Dublin, California, we use a gentle method to help our vertigo patients get relief. We encourage the bones to move back into place naturally rather than popping or cracking the spine. This leads to a longer-lasting adjustment, and many see an improvement in their vertigo. Some see it go away completely.
