Tourette’s Syndrome, Tourette’s, Trigger, TriggersTourette’ syndrome is often said to be an inherited condition. This does not take into consideration the two major reasons that it is unlikely to be genetic. What are these?

  • As much as 15% of people who have Tourette’s do not have any genetic links.
  • There is a wide range of variation in character, course, and severity of this condition that cannot be explained by genetics.

Tourette’s Connected to Neck Misalignments

Recent research has indicated there is a link between Tourette’s syndrome and head and neck trauma. This can be any kind of trauma occurring early in life, even during the prenatal period. It could have been something as simple as a trip and fall or an accident. Tics may occur immediately after the trauma or years later. Can anything provide help?

Positive Results from a Tourette’s Case Study

The story of a 14-year-old boy was published in the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal, and Family Health. He was diagnosed with Tourette’s and had missed two days of school due to the severity and frequency of his tics. He was brought to the hospital as he was having up to 1000 violent tics per day. He developed migraines and became extremely exhausted.

He was given prescription meds to treat the tics and migraines with no success. His parents continued to seek answers for their son and began to bring him to see an upper cervical chiropractor. It was discovered that he did indeed have a misalignment in the bones of the upper neck. When corrected, proper communication was restored between the brain and body, leading to relief for the boy. After only five months of adjustments, his number of tics reduced dramatically. He was able to take less medication as he continued to get care from his chiropractor.

At our Dublin, California practice, we use a gentle method of upper cervical chiropractic that is safe for both children and adults to realign the bones of the neck. This is often the answer ones are seeking to help them see an improvement in Tourette’s syndrome symptoms.
